The Story of Coiffie (pronounced Kwah-fee)

As a stay-at-home mom, I was faced with the dilemma of re-entering the workforce when my son went to high school.  I’ve always had an “inventor’s mind”, coming up with product ideas for as long as I can remember, and decided to use my design background to pursue my dream of bringing one of my ideas to the marketplace.

I designed the Coiffie in an attempt to solve a problem that challenged me and many other women.  Frustrated by the effects of the weather and traditional hats on my curly hair, I wanted something that was chic, lightweight and water repellent that still left my hair looking great when I removed it.  I began by drawing sketches and making a list of the features I wanted to incorporate.  Then I experimented with many designs and fabrics until the final prototype was created.  After much thought, I decided on the name “Coiffie” because the design helps preserve your hairstyle or “coif.”

Available in a cozy winter weight version or a multi-season style that folds up compactly for travel, the Coiffie is lightweight and comfortable, combining classic, timeless elegance with an innovative twist.  Extremely flattering on women of all ages, its silky lining minimizes “hat hair” and works even when flipped back and layered over like a scarf.

I’m a native New Yorker, with strong family ties to the garment industry.  My interest in design began at a very young age and I started taking art classes at the Brooklyn Museum.  I went on to study art history at Boston University and received a degree in Art Education from New York University.  After that, I continued to take courses at Parsons The New School For Design, The School of Visual Arts, and the Art Students League.

Before designing the Coiffie, I was a textile and jewelry designer and worked in retail, advertising, marketing and the magazine industry.  I consider the Coiffie the perfect blend of my love of art, design, fashion and function, and am proud to have created something beautiful that enhances women’s lives.

Weather-defying, stylish and a classic addition to any wardrobe, you can say goodbye to hat hair when you wear a Coiffie!
